Death and Life

Up and Down

Wet and Dry

Long and Short

I’m sure you could come up with many examples of opposites. Today I want to talk about an “opposite” that isn’t exactly an opposite for those who know Jesus.

On Good Friday, Christians commemorate the death of Jesus. He was placed on a cross and died on top of a hill outside the city of Jerusalem– even though the ruler, Pontius Pilate, could find no reason to give him a death sentence.

He stayed in the grave for 3 days. But as the song Come Behold the Wondrous Mystery reminds us “no grave could e’re restrain Him, Praise the Lord, He is alive!”

Jesus was dead and then He was alive! How could it be?

It is possible because God, in His infinite wisdom, planned it that way.

As John 1:1-5 says,

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Christ is Risen! Hallelujah!
